More on the KickStartz Events...

Ever thought about starting your own business? Had that great idea you think could be the Next Big Thing? The good news is there may have never been a better time since the early days of the Internet to start your own technology-based business!!!

Join us Saturday evening, Dec 5th, 6:00-8:30PM for the Opening Night WinMoDev Starz Event for StartUp Tampa to be continued on Sunday Dec 6th 9:00-4:30pm (you will need to sign up for both events separately since they span calendar days). On Saturday evening there will be introductions; success stories and lessons learned from dev and IT Pro community entrepreneurs and business owners, and an overview of the Microsoft programs available to help you realize your technology dreams as a business. Sunday we will brainstorm ideas, build-out a few of the ideas, and other business talks. Even if you only attend the first Saturday evening session, you will come away with a better idea both of the resources available to you, and of how to start choosing and building out your idea for “the Next Big Thing”.

Hope to see you there!

The attendees set the format...

While we have some ideas about topics that we have seen done at the previous KickStartz Events (go to www.kickstartz.com for the "original" KickStartz, thank you Marc Asselin for allowing us to build on your Fort Lauderdale event last June), there is waaaaay more information and activities than will fit in the time available.

So in the true best "agile" form, the attendees choose how much time they want to spend on which topics from among the following:

Saturday Evening 6-8:30pm
  • Introductions and Background of Attendees (we have had some stellar attendees, this part of the evening is great fun)
  • Microsoft, Business Tools (BizSpark, DreamSpark, WebsiteSpark, Microsoft Partner Network, Empower for ISV's, Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
  • Success stories, lessons learned; both from among attendees and speakers, we are collecting this info in media to share with the group.  The One Thing you need to know, what they would have done differently, and funny stories
  • Start Ideas;  5 items for each idea:  What is it, who is the target market, how do you monetize it, who is your competition, and what is your competitive edge

Sunday 9am-4:30pm

  • Continue ideas, start build-out of ideas (continue throughout the day)
  • Focus on key Microsoft Technologies (that are of interest for a particular group, WinMoDev, for example)
  • Business basics "quick talks"; 15 minutes to half hour both on key business basics (what business structure, protecting your intellectual property, paying you and your team), and including The Tough Questions, such as how do we decide who owns the magic 1%, how do we fund this when we have no money, what about health care benefits, any topics are on the table!
  •
No Matter What Size Business You Want to Start,..
Whether part time or full time
Whether you have already started your business and want more information about growing it
Whether you want to be a Micro ISV, build a small business, or be a true Entrepreneur, start it, sell it, and do the next one, come on out, there will be something for you!

Hope to see you on Dec 5 and Dec 6th!
